Draw a shape in the editor. The output scope plays it back as a modulation signal — Smooth rounds the steps, Jitter adds drift, Depth sets how far it reaches. Hit Infect: one source now drives several device parameters at once. Reinfect reshuffles which ones move. Press Hear it to put the signal on a filter and listen to the shape you drew.

How an instrument gets made.
No roadmap, no feature list. Every device starts as a problem in a real session and has to survive four stages before it is allowed out.

Signal
A problem in a real session with no clean solution.
Every instrument starts as friction in an actual track — a modulation that needs eight hands, a gesture no controller can capture. The brief is written from the session, not from a feature list.
- 02STAGE 02 / 04
Prototype
DSP roughed out in Max/MSP until the idea proves itself.
Built fast and ugly first. If the core idea does not survive contact with audio in the first afternoon, it does not continue. Most do not.

Calibration
Ranges, curves and defaults tuned by ear, not by maths.
Parameter ranges are set so the whole sweep is usable — no dead zones, no unusable extremes. Defaults are chosen so the device already sounds like something the moment it is dropped on a track.

Field test
Used in a finished record or a live set before release.
Nothing leaves the Lab that has not carried weight in real work. If it did not survive a session or a stage, it goes back on the bench.

DISEKTOR // ARTIFACTS is built by Disektor — Mhamed Mansouri — a Moroccan producer and creative coder based in Casablanca. His work sits at the intersection of digital abstraction and organic texture: glitch-laden maximalism meeting emotive melodic layers.
The instruments here come out of that practice. Every Lab artifact has been used in a real session before it left the bench.

What is DISEKTOR // ARTIFACTS?+
DISEKTOR // ARTIFACTS is the audio-tools arm of Disektor — a Moroccan producer and creative coder based in Casablanca. It builds Max for Live devices, plugins, and audio utilities for Ableton Live, engineered like precision instruments.
What is PARASEQ?+
PARASEQ is a free Max for Live modulator for Ableton Live 11+. It is a step-sequencer modulation device with an Infection Engine that auto-maps movement to up to eight parameters of any Live device in a single click.
Is PARASEQ free?+
Yes. PARASEQ v1.0 is free for personal and commercial use. You can download it from Gumroad at disektlab.gumroad.com — no payment required.
What do I need to run these Max for Live devices?+
You need Ableton Live 11 or higher with Max for Live, which is included in Ableton Live Suite or available as a paid add-on. The devices run on both macOS and Windows.
What is a Max for Live device?+
A Max for Live (M4L) device is an instrument, audio effect, or modulator built in Max/MSP that runs inside Ableton Live. DISEKTOR // ARTIFACTS devices are modulators and audio utilities you drag onto a track like any native Live device.
Where can I download Disektor's audio tools?+
All DISEKTOR // ARTIFACTS audio tools and Max for Live devices are released on Gumroad at disektlab.gumroad.com. You can also subscribe on the Lab page to be notified when a new instrument is released.
