Electronic Musical Nap at La Coupole

An improvised modular set under the dome of La Coupole in Casablanca, played in quadraphonic sound to an audience lying on rugs.

القيلولة الموسيقية, the Electronic Musical Nap: an evening built for listening lying down rather than standing up. The audience settled onto rugs and cushions under the dome, and the set played out from the middle of the room rather than from a stage.

An improvised modular synth set, diffused in quadraphonic Funktion-One sound so the material moved around the room instead of arriving from one direction. Tones, textures, noise and ambient washes rise, shimmer and dissolve across the evening.

Analog glitches and fragments of archival images flickered on the dome overhead, blurring memory and dream against the sound.

Held at La Coupole in Parc de la Ligue Arabe as the second Ramadan special of the series, in collaboration with Casamémoire for the 6th edition of Les Nocturnes du Patrimoine. The evening was donation based.
