Immersive audiovisual experiences in Morocco

Sound and image built as one space. From Casablanca, Disektor designs and performs immersive audiovisual experiences: live sets whose visuals are generated by the music as it plays, sound that moves around the audience instead of coming from a stage, and pieces made for the venue rather than adapted to it.

What an immersive commission can be

Five formats, often combined. Each one grows out of work that has already been performed in front of an audience.

Mix the room

Five formats, five faders: each one reshapes the field behind this page.

  1. Live AV performance

Sound and image played together, live. The visual system listens to the music: onsets drive the geometry and the spectrum drives colour, so no two shows render the same.

  2. Spatial & multichannel sound

Quadraphonic and multichannel diffusion that moves the material around the room instead of sending it from a stage, like the quad Funktion-One set under the dome of La Coupole in Casablanca.

  3. Generative & audio-reactive visuals

Real-time visual systems built in TouchDesigner and GLSL, for open-air screens, domes and stages. Generated live rather than played back from a timeline.

  4. Installations & interactive pieces

Sound-and-image pieces that respond to presence and gesture, built on the same tools as the live work, down to webcam hand tracking that turns movement into sound.

  5. Workshops & talks

Hands-on sessions in sound design, creative coding and live AV, where participants work along on their own machines, as at LPM 2025 in M'Hamid El Ghizlane.

Built for real rooms

A desert at night, a dome in Casablanca, a mud-brick classroom. Every format above has been tested in front of an audience.

Electronic Musical Nap at La Coupole

An improvised modular set under the dome of La Coupole in Casablanca, played in quadraphonic sound to an audience lying on rugs.

Hand Tracking to Glitch Sound

Webcam hand tracking driving glitch sound design in real time. Groundwork for a live A/V set, and probably a Max for Live device after that.

Immersive experiences: questions

What is an immersive audiovisual experience?

An immersive audiovisual experience surrounds the audience with sound and image instead of placing them in front of a stage. In Disektor's work that means visuals generated by the music in real time, sound diffused over several speakers around the room, and formats designed for the specific space, from an open-air desert screen to a dome.

Where has Disektor presented immersive work?

At LPM 2025, the 26th Live Performers Meeting, with an open-air audiovisual set in the desert near M'Hamid El Ghizlane, and at La Coupole in Casablanca, with an improvised quadraphonic modular set under the dome for Casamémoire's Nocturnes du Patrimoine.

Can Disektor create an experience for my festival, venue or brand in Morocco?

Yes. Disektor is based in Casablanca and works across Morocco and internationally, for festivals, cultural and heritage venues, galleries and private events. Send the date, the place and the format you have in mind to disektor.live@gmail.com.

What tools are the visuals and the sound built with?

The visual systems are built in TouchDesigner and GLSL shaders and react to the audio in real time. The sound comes from Ableton Live, Max for Live, Max/MSP and modular synthesis, including the Max for Live devices Disektor builds himself under DISEKTOR // ARTIFACTS.

Does Disektor run workshops?

Yes. Disektor gives hands-on workshops in sound design and the tools behind his live work, most recently at LPM 2025 in the Moroccan desert, where participants worked along on their own laptops.
